Age-based rooms

At Franklin Early Learning, children are grouped into age-based rooms that reflect their developmental stage, interests and individual needs. Each room provides a carefully designed environment and program that supports children’s growth, learning and wellbeing.

Our educators tailor experiences to each age group, ensuring children are appropriately challenged, nurtured and supported as they progress through their early learning journey.

Our Infants Team places a strong emphasis on high-quality care routines, using simple daily rhythms as the foundation for their programming to support children’s growth and development. This approach fosters children’s independence, resilience and a strong sense of belonging.

Everyday routines—such as mealtimes and self-help experiences—are valued as meaningful opportunities for learning and connection.

In the Turtles room, children are supported to build confidence, independence and a strong sense of belonging as they explore their growing world. The environment is designed to encourage curiosity, connection and meaningful engagement through play.

Children are provided with opportunities to develop social skills, express themselves, and build relationships with peers and educators. Through consistent routines and responsive interactions, they feel secure and supported as they navigate new experiences.

In the Sea Dragons room, children are supported to develop independence, self-care skills and emotional awareness as they continue to grow and connect with others. The environment provides opportunities for children to explore their feelings, build resilience and develop strategies to support their wellbeing.

Calm and reflective experiences—such as yoga, guided relaxation and creative arts—are embedded within the daily program, offering children space to express themselves and regulate their emotions. Through these meaningful experiences, children are encouraged to build confidence, strengthen relationships and engage positively within the group.

In the Possums room, children are supported to develop a strong sense of identity, belonging and connection to both the centre and the wider community. With Franklin School onsite, children are provided with opportunities to engage in shared experiences and events, supporting their transition to school and fostering a sense of confidence and familiarity within the school environment.

The program encourages children to explore diversity, culture and inclusion through meaningful experiences and connections with others. Participation in community and school events supports children’s social development, confidence and sense of contribution.

Creative expression and collaboration are an important part of daily experiences, with opportunities for music, movement and the arts allowing children to explore their interests, share their ideas and build relationships. Family involvement is also valued, strengthening partnerships and creating a strong, connected learning community.

Possums

4-5 years

In the Possums room, children are supported to develop a strong sense of identity, belonging and connection to both the centre and the wider community. With Franklin School onsite, children are provided with opportunities to engage in shared experiences and events, supporting their transition to school and fostering a sense of confidence and familiarity within the school environment.

The program encourages children to explore diversity, culture and inclusion through meaningful experiences and connections with others. Participation in community and school events supports children’s social development, confidence and sense of contribution.

Curriculum design

We believe by employing excellent, qualified educators, encouraging family involvement and adapting to modern, relevant practices, we provide a vibrant, interactive learning environment for your children.

Our programs are based on foundations of play-based teaching, outdoor learning, project-based learning and school readiness.

The principles used to guide our planning have been adapted from the Australian Government’s Belonging, Being and Becoming: The Early Years Framework for Australia and My Time, Our Place: Framework for School Age Care in Australia.

Before and after
school care

Before school program

7:30-9:00am in the school hall

If your child attends our day program, you can drop them off from 7:30am, and our educators will transition them to their classroom at 9:00am.

After school program

3:00-6:00pm in the school hall

If your child attends our day program, our educators will transition them from the their classroom to the school hall where you can collect them prior to 6:00pm.

Frequently asked questions

We would love to have you join us for a tour of our centre. Tours are available Mondays, Tuesday, Thursdays and Fridays between 9.30am-4pm. Please call reception on (02) 6142 1117 to register.

We provide care and education for children between the ages of 6 weeks and 5 years old.

We recommend a small to medium sized backpack, so that all belongings remain together.

Please bring:

A change of clothes including socks, shoes, pants/shorts and singlets. Children are encouraged to explore the environment and to participate in activities such as waterplay and painting
A hat
A coat or jacket (during cool weather)
A water bottle
All of the bottles that your infant or toddler will need for the day, clearly labelled with your child’s name. (Anglicare provides cow’s milk and soy milk for infants’ bottles. If your child has formula, this can be provided to staff who will prepare the bottles as needed.)
Raincoat and gumboots for wet weather/mud play
Sunscreen (if required)

Please label all your child’s belongings.

We provide all food requirements and nappies for your child for the day. We use disposable nappies and Sudocream.

All of our centres are allergy-aware and you will be advised of foods and medications which cannot be brought to your centre.
