Anglicare Pantry Appeal
Team up with your colleagues or classmates to collect food donations to help fill the Anglicare pantry
By donating to the Anglicare Pantry Appeal, you will be providing urgent food and essential living items to families in need.
What is the Anglicare Pantry Appeal?
The Pantry Appeal is held every winter and seeks donations of non-perishable food and essential living items. The items collected throughout the appeal are distributed to families and individuals in the community who are in need of emergency assistance. Thanks to your generosity, in 2019 we were able to collect more than 100,000 food items to help those in need.
The Pantry Appeal is supported by local schools, churches and businesses in addition to individual volunteers who run shopping centres stalls across Canberra and in some regional towns in NSW.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Pantry Appeal for?
The Pantry Appeal is one of Anglicare’s regular appeals to meet ongoing need throughout the year to provide emergency assistance for people facing hardship. Through the Pantry Appeal, Anglicare seeks donations of non-perishable food, essential living items and funds.
When does the Pantry Appeal start?
The Pantry Appeal usually launches in May but due to schools delivering teaching online, we understand that another time of year may work better for your students and school community.
We gratefully receive Pantry Appeal donations at any time! We encourage schools, community groups, churches and local businesses to participate in Pantry Appeal at anytime that suits them throughout the year.

How are donations distributed?
The items donated towards our Pantry Appeal are distributed to people in need who seek assistance at St John’s Care in Reid, Food Fair at Anglicare Retail in Queanbeyan, the Junction Youth Health Service in Canberra City, the Gordon Community Centre and at our regional offices across NSW including Goulburn, Wagga Wagga, Moruya, Parkes and Orange.
This year we have also opened new emergency relief services in towns affected by the 2020 Bushfires. Our bushfire recovery coordinators are distributing emergency food relief in Moruya, Bega, Cobargo, Eden and Batlow.
How can I help?
We would love for you to donate items of non-perishable food and essential living items – such as canned vegetables, rice + pasta, sauces, school snacks and items like toilet paper and toothpaste.
Not only does Pantry Appeal rely on donations from individuals, we need people like you to volunteer at shopping centre collection stalls. If you want to be part of the team that makes a difference, email donations@anglicare.com.au to volunteer at a shopping centre near you.
