From care home to bright beginnings: A story of hope

This month, we celebrate an amazing achievement by a young woman from one of our Therapeutic Supported Independent Living (TSIL) houses.

We are thrilled to share that, despite the considerable obstacles she’s faced in her young life, this remarkable young woman has become the first Anglicare participant to be accepted into the Foyer Central community.

Foyer Central is an independent living program that connects residents with mentors and coaches who support them to identify and achieve personal goals. Residents live in fully self-contained studio apartments at a subsidised rate and are encouraged to pursue opportunities that interest them as individuals—whether that be education, employment, or personal growth.

After successfully participating in the initial interview, subsequent workshops on education and accommodation, and a group activity, the young woman was extremely relieved and excited to be identified by Foyer Central as an outstanding fit for the program.

This transition represents more than just a change of address—it’s the beginning of her post-care journey, a journey that would not have been possible without her own determination and the consistent therapeutic support of her care team.

She is growing into a confident young adult, ready to embrace the world ahead—and we are incredibly proud of her.
